My Family Tree

Family means unconditional love and support. I know my family has my best interests at heart, always. We can argue and annoy each other but no matter what we love each other. My parents go out of their way to support my interests. My sister and I are very lucky to have our parents. They are very involved in our lives. Some of my friends have parents that are not like that at all. They do not care what their kids are doing. My parents care about us and our friends. My parents love us and I know they love each other.

My motto is “Live let live”. I do not believe in judging others. This means that I let others live their own lives and I live mine. My shield is ornate because I value the artistic details. The scrolls and design are typical of the Medieval time period. I chose 4 symbols for my shield. The Ax represents my strength of character. It means that I stay true to myself and my beliefs. The dog represents my love for animals. I am very involved with animal rescue. The cross represents my faith. The cross and wings symbol represents my respect for all people. This means showing respect for people of various ages, abilities and ethnicities

Cultural Symbolism

The Sword of Excalibur: This is the most important sword. Whoever wields it will rule the kingdom. It represents the best sword and the best man.

Shield: The Medieval shields were very strong. They had three functions.
First was to protect the soldier against swords and projectiles.
Second to carry the emblem of whom the soldier belonged.
Third was to use in an attack. The shield was heavy metal and could kill a enemy with a single blow.

King Arthur: King Arthur represents truth and justice. He stood for goodness despite living in a violent world. He had a group of loyal knights that were also fierce warriors.

Knight's Armor: The Knight's Armor was not just protection in battle. It also represented the status of the warrior. Armor was expensive and allowed the knight to show his wealth and importance.

England: England emerges from the collapse of the Roman Empire to a new identity and new cultures. Artistic creations emerge such as epic poems like Beowulf and metalwork advances.

Gawain and the Green Knight: Gawain and the Green Knight is an important poem from the Medieval period. It represents a heroes quest. Sir Gawain accepts a challenge from the Green Knight and the tale describes his journey.

Crown: There were two types of crown in Medieval time. One was worn by royalty during feasting days. The other, called a diadem, was worn by Roman emperors and kings of pagan tribes. The crown represents the authority to rule.

Pentangle: The Pentangle is a five pointed continuous star. It had magical and religious meaning. The Pentangle was often used on knights armor.

Cross: The Cross is a religious symbol. During the middle ages, people believed it had special powers. To touch it would bring good luck or even heal an illness.

Camelot: Camelot was important in medieval times because it represented King Arthur's kingdom.

Animal Rescue: Animal Rescue represents something important in my life. I volunteer for various animal rescues. I believe in spaying and nuetering not in kill shelters. I have fostered several animals and helped them find homes.

Honor: Honor is important to me. My mother likes to say that I am an old soul. I do not like seeing teens that lack respect for others. I strive to live an honorable life. Honor represents to me having a conscience, knowing right from wrong and holding yourself accountable for your actions.
